It is the piece of Bellevue's park system that stitches everything else together. A morning in the Botanical Garden, a loop on the Lake to Lake Trail, a picnic at the summit shelter, and a playground stop for kids all belong to the same continuous walk. Nothing else in the city gives you formal gardens, forest trails, sports fields, and long ridge-line views in a single park.

The visit, in detail
From the main Main Street lot, the paved path climbs a short rise to the shared boundary with the Botanical Garden. A left turn takes you into the formal garden loop; a right turn heads into the sports complex; straight ahead drops you onto the Owl Loop and the Lake to Lake connector. The forest section feels older than its second-growth status suggests — narrow packed-dirt trail, ferns and salal underfoot, filtered light through the canopy. The sports fields and playground on the eastern flank are usually busy with youth soccer on weekends. The picnic shelter at the summit is a reliable overflow option when Botanical Garden benches are full during Garden d'Lights or peak bloom weekends.

Practical
Know before you go
Wilburton Hill Park shares parking with the Bellevue Botanical Garden. On peak-bloom Saturdays and during Garden d'Lights (late November through early January), the shared lot fills by 10am — plan for the overflow lot on 124th Ave NE or arrive before 09:30. The park itself has no admission fee. The Botanical Garden is also free but suggests a donation. The Owl Loop is not lit; plan to be out before dusk in winter.
